Ingredients
2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith recommended), cored and sliced or diced
1 tbsp unsalted butter (or coconut oil/ghee)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp pure maple syrup
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Apples. Wash, core, and slice your apples into 1/4-inch thick wedges or 1/2-inch cubes. You can leave the skin on for added fiber and a rustic look.
Step 2: Heat the Skillet. Place a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt until shimmering.
Step 3: Sauté the Apples. Add the sliced apples to the hot skillet in an even layer. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to soften and develop a slight golden color.
Step 4: Add Flavor. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the apples, then pour in the maple syrup. Toss gently to coat all the apple slices evenly. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender to your desired doneness and the syrup has thickened slightly to a glossy coating.
Step 5: Serve Immediately. Remove from heat and serve your warm cinnamon maple sautéed apples immediately. Enjoy them on their own or with your favorite breakfast or dessert accompaniments.
Notes
For best results, use firm, slightly tart apples. Adjust maple syrup to your sweetness preference. A tiny squeeze of lemon juice at the end can brighten the flavors.
