Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup apple butter
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9-inch bundt pan or springform pan with butter and a light dusting of flour.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and salt until well combined.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Step 4: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to ensure proper emulsification.
Step 5: Stir in the apple butter, sour cream, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and fragrant.
Step 6: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 7: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Step 8: Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the thickest part of the cake comes out clean.
Step 9: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best texture. If you don’t have sour cream, Greek yogurt makes an excellent substitute.
