Ingredients
6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon, and lemon juice until well coated.
Step 3: Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Step 4: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and salt.
Step 5: Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the cold butter into the oat mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 6: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Step 7: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
Step 8: Let the crisp cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For the best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples. If the topping browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
