Ingredients
6 large apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp mix), peeled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
Step 2: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
Step 3: Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Step 4: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work in the cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
Step 5: Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
Step 6: Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
Step 7: Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For an extra crunch, add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping.
