A warm, comforting apple crisp with a buttery oat topping. One of the best apple recipes easy enough for any night of the week.

  • Total Time: PT60M
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and half of the cinnamon until evenly coated.
Step 3: Spread the apple mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
Step 4: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and the remaining cinnamon.
Step 5: Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the cold butter into the oat mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 6: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
Step 7: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling around the edges.

Notes

For the best results, use cold butter and tart apples like Granny Smith or Braeburn.
