Ingredients
2 ripe Hass avocados
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 thick slices of sourdough bread
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
Optional: Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
Step 2: Immediately drizzle the fresh lime juice over the avocado to prevent browning and add a bright citrus flavor.
Step 3: Use a fork to gently mash the avocado until you reach your desired consistency, leaving some small chunks for texture.
Step 4: Stir in the flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes, ensuring the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the mash.
Step 5: Toast the sourdough bread slices until they are golden brown and crispy, then lightly brush them with extra virgin olive oil.
Step 6: Spread a generous layer of the avocado mixture onto each slice of toast and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
For best results, use bread that is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the avocado. Sourdough or ciabatta are excellent choices.
