Ingredients
1 box (15.25 oz) Devil’s Food Cake Mix
Ingredients required by the cake mix box (usually water, oil, and eggs)
1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 jar (12 oz) Caramel Sauce
1 container (8 oz) Whipped Topping, thawed
1 cup Heath Toffee bits (or crushed Heath bars)
Optional: Chocolate syrup for drizzling
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Step 2: Prepare the chocolate cake mix as directed on the package and bake it in the prepared pan.
Step 3: While the cake is still warm (about 5-10 minutes out of the oven), use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes across the entire surface of the cake.
Step 4: Slowly pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk over the warm cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
Step 5: Follow immediately by pouring about 3/4 of the jar of caramel sauce over the cake.
Step 6: Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
Step 7: Once chilled, spread the whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
Step 8: Sprinkle the toffee bits generously over the whipped topping and drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce and optional chocolate syrup.
Step 9: Serve chilled and keep leftovers refrigerated.
Notes
For the best results, let the cake soak in the fridge overnight. Use a wooden spoon handle for the perfect sized holes.
