Ingredients
1–3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup strong hot coffee
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate frosting
24 oz black candy melts
24 cake pop sticks
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt for the black magic cake pops recipe base.
Step 3: Add the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed for about two minutes.
Step 4: Stir in the hot coffee by hand; the batter for this black magic cake pops recipe will be very thin and bubbly.
Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 6: Allow the cake to cool completely, then crumble it into a large bowl until no large chunks remain.
Step 7: Mix in the chocolate frosting one tablespoon at a time until the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency that holds its shape.
Step 8: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined tray; chill in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
Step 9: Melt the black candy melts according to package instructions. Dip the tip of a cake pop stick into the chocolate, then insert it into a cake ball.
Step 10: Submerge the entire cake ball into the melted chocolate, tap off the excess gently, and allow the black magic cake pops recipe creations to set upright in a stand or foam block.
