Ingredients
2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
1 cup oat milk (or milk of choice)
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of sea salt
Optional: 1 shot of espresso
Instructions
Step 1: Place the black sesame seeds in a small skillet over medium heat. Toast for 3-5 minutes, shaking the pan frequently, until the seeds become fragrant and start to pop.
Step 2: Allow the toasted seeds to cool for a minute, then transfer them to a high-speed blender or spice grinder. Pulse until they turn into a fine powder or a thick paste.
Step 3: In a small saucepan, combine the toasted sesame paste, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt with the milk.
Step 4: Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly to ensure the sesame paste is fully incorporated and the milk becomes frothy. Do not let it come to a rolling boil.
Step 5: If you prefer a completely smooth texture, pour the Black Sesame Latte through a fine-mesh strainer into your favorite mug.
Step 6: Top with extra frothed milk or a few whole toasted sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy your Black Sesame Latte immediately!
Notes
For a smoother latte, use a high-powered blender to combine the hot milk and sesame paste before serving.
