Ingredients
1 lb New York Strip steak, cubed into 1-inch pieces
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 cups cooked jasmine rice (chilled overnight)
2 medium zucchini, sliced into half-moons
1 large white onion, diced
8 oz sliced mushrooms
4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 tbsp soy sauce, divided
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 eggs, lightly beaten
Salt and black pepper to taste
Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to create your hibachi garlic butter.
Step 2: Preheat your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat. Apply vegetable oil to the surface.
Step 3: Spread the chilled rice onto one side of the griddle. Let it sear for 2 minutes, then create a well in the center, add a little oil, and scramble the eggs. Mix the eggs into the rice, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and a dollop of garlic butter.
Step 4: On the middle section of the griddle, toss the zucchini, onions, and mushrooms with oil and garlic butter. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until tender-crisp.
Step 5: On the hottest part of the griddle, sear the steak cubes and shrimp. Add the remaining garlic butter and soy sauce to the proteins as they cook. Steak should take about 4-5 minutes for medium-rare; shrimp takes 3-4 minutes.
Step 6: Combine all components or serve side-by-side. Drizzle the rice with sesame oil and garnish everything with sesame seeds.
Notes
Always use cold rice for the best texture. If your steak is sticking, your griddle isn’t hot enough yet.
