Ingredients
1 standard 9×13 cake (baked and cooled)
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup vanilla or chocolate frosting
16 oz candy melts or high-quality chocolate
24 lollipop sticks
Assorted sprinkles (optional)
2 tablespoons coconut oil (for thinning chocolate if needed)
Instructions
Step 1: Bake your chosen cake flavor and allow it to cool completely to room temperature.
Step 2: Crumble the cake by hand or using a food processor until fine crumbs are formed.
Step 3: Add frosting one tablespoon at a time to the crumbs, mixing well until the dough holds together when squeezed.
Step 4: Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 5: Chill the cake balls in the freezer for 20 minutes to firm up.
Step 6: Melt the candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring until smooth.
Step 7: Dip a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate, then push it halfway into a cake ball.
Step 8: Dip the entire ball into the chocolate, tap off the excess, and add sprinkles immediately before the shell sets.
Step 9: Place the sticks upright in a foam block or stand to dry completely.
Notes
Always ensure the cake balls are chilled but not frozen to prevent the chocolate coating from cracking.
