Ingredients
1 (16.3 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits) OR 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed OR 1 batch homemade dough
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
4–6 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or a 9-inch round springform pan. If using refrigerated biscuit dough, cut each biscuit into 4 smaller pieces. If using thawed bread dough, cut it into 1-1.5 inch pieces.
Step 2: In a small bowl or saucepan, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well mixed. This is your delicious garlic butter for the cheesy garlic butter pull apart rolls.
Step 3: Take each piece of dough and flatten it slightly. Place a small amount (about 1 tablespoon) of shredded cheese in the center of each dough piece. Fold the edges of the dough over the cheese and pinch firmly to seal, forming a small ball. Ensure the cheese is fully enclosed.
Step 4: Dip each cheese-stuffed dough ball into the garlic butter mixture, ensuring it’s completely coated. You can use tongs for this or your fingers.
Step 5: Arrange the butter-coated dough balls snugly in your prepared baking dish. Pour any remaining garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle an additional 1/2 cup of shredded cheese over the top for an extra cheesy crust.
Step 6: Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through. If the tops start to brown too quickly, you can loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil. The internal temperature should be around 200-210°F (93-99°C).
Step 7: Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes in the pan before serving. This allows the cheese to set slightly. Serve warm and enjoy pulling apart these incredible cheesy garlic butter pull apart rolls!
Notes
For best results, use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder. Grating your own cheese will give a better melt than pre-shredded varieties. These rolls are best served warm, straight from the oven.
