Ultimate Cheesy Sausage Crescent Bake

A comforting and easy-to-make casserole featuring savory breakfast sausage, creamy cheese, and flaky crescent roll dough, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick weeknight dinner. This cheesy sausage crescent bake recipe is a family favorite!

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb bulk breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease thoroughly.
Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Add the cooked and drained sausage to the cream cheese mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
Step 5: Unroll the crescent roll dough and arrange it in the prepared baking dish, pressing the seams together to form a single layer crust on the bottom. You may need to slightly stretch it to cover the bottom.
Step 6: Evenly spread the sausage-cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll crust.
Step 7: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage mixture.
Step 8: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Step 9: Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a spicier kick, use hot breakfast sausage. This dish is excellent for meal prep; simply store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or oven.
