Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
1/4 cup water
2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough (seamless or regular)
1/2 cup refried beans (optional)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese, divided
2 cups tortilla chips, lightly crushed
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, chopped cilantro
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Step 2: Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Once fully cooked and no longer pink, drain off any excess fat.
Step 3: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the liquid to reduce and flavors to meld.
Step 4: Unroll the two cans of crescent roll dough. If using regular crescent rolls, arrange them in a sunburst pattern on your prepared baking sheet with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointy ends extending outwards. If using seamless dough, unroll and press seams together to form a large rectangle, then cut into triangles and arrange.
Step 5: Spread a thin layer of refried beans (if using) over the wide ends of the crescent dough, leaving the pointy ends clear.
Step 6: Spoon the seasoned ground beef mixture in a ring over the wide ends of the crescent dough, forming an even circle.
Step 7: Sprinkle generously with half (1 cup) of the shredded cheese over the beef mixture.
Step 8: Bring the pointy ends of the crescent roll dough up over the filling and tuck them under the wide ends in the center, forming a ring. Press gently to seal the dough.
Step 9: Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Step 10: While the ring is baking, lightly crush 2 cups of tortilla chips. Once the ring is out of the oven, carefully fill the open center of the ring with these crushed tortilla chips.
Step 11: Top the tortilla chips in the center with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese. Return to the oven for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese on the chips is melted and gooey.
Step 12: Remove from the oven. Let cool for 5 minutes before garnishing with your favorite toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy your cheesy taco nacho ring party recipe!
Notes
For best results, make sure to drain the ground beef thoroughly to prevent the ring from becoming greasy. Feel free to customize the toppings based on your personal preferences. This cheesy taco nacho ring is best served fresh from the oven, but leftovers can be gently reheated.
