Festive Christmas Trail Mix

A delightful blend of sweet, salty, and crunchy, this Christmas trail mix is the perfect holiday snack, gift, or party treat, capturing the spirit of the season in every bite.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 cups (approx. 16 servings) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups mixed nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds)
2 cups pretzel twists or sticks
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup dark chocolate chunks
1 cup holiday M&M’s (red and green)
1/2 cup mini marshmallows
1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: If desired, spread the mixed nuts on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 8-10 minutes until fragrant. Let cool completely.
Step 2: In a very large bowl, combine the cooled toasted nuts (if using), pretzels, dried cranberries, holiday M&M’s, and mini marshmallows.
Step 3: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Be careful not to overheat.
Step 4: Drizzle half of the melted white chocolate over the trail mix mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Stir gently to coat.
Step 5: Repeat with the remaining white chocolate and dark chocolate chunks, ensuring everything is evenly coated.
Step 6: Spread the trail mix onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets in a single layer.
Step 7: Allow the trail mix to set at room temperature for about 1-2 hours, or refrigerate for 30 minutes, until the chocolate has hardened.
Step 8: Once set, break the trail mix into smaller pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

This recipe is highly customizable! Feel free to swap out nuts, dried fruits, or candies based on your preference or what you have on hand. For best results, ensure all components are dry and completely cooled (if toasted) before mixing. For a lighter coating, reduce the amount of chocolate.
