Ingredients
1 (8-count) can refrigerated cinnamon roll dough (with icing packet)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional, for custard)
Butter or cooking spray, for griddle
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your griddle or a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.
Step 2: Unroll the store-bought cinnamon roll dough. Gently separate each roll. Using a rolling pin, flatten each cinnamon roll into a thin, oblong shape, about 1/4-inch thick. You can also press them flat with your hands if you don’t have a rolling pin.
Step 3: In a shallow dish (like a pie plate), whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and an optional pinch of ground cinnamon until well combined and frothy.
Step 4: Carefully dip each flattened cinnamon roll into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Allow any excess liquid to drip off.
Step 5: Place the egg-dipped cinnamon rolls onto the preheated griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. They should be slightly puffed and fragrant.
Step 6: Once cooked, transfer the cinnamon roll French toast to a plate. While still warm, gently roll each one up into a tight log. The warmth helps them hold their shape.
Step 7: Warm the reserved cinnamon roll icing packet (if included) in the microwave for a few seconds until drizzly. Drizzle generously over the warm roll ups. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Step 8: Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Cinnamon Roll French Toast Roll Ups!
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, you can add a thin spread of cream cheese or nut butter to the flattened cinnamon roll dough before dipping and cooking. Ensure your griddle isn’t too hot to prevent burning before the inside cooks through. Best served warm!
