Ingredients
1 cup water
1 stick of cinnamon (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
1 tablespoon honey (or to taste)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)
Optional: A pinch of fresh ginger or turmeric for added health benefits
Optional: A slice of lemon for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Heat the Water: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Add Cinnamon: Once the water is boiling, add the cinnamon stick (or ground cinnamon) and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. If adding optional ginger or turmeric, do so now.
Step 3: Incorporate Honey and Lemon: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the honey and fresh lemon juice until well combined. Adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
Step 4: Serve: If you used a cinnamon stick, remove it before serving. Pour the tea into a mug. If you used ground cinnamon, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture. Add a slice of lemon on top if desired, and enjoy your soothing tea while it’s warm.
Notes
This tea is best enjoyed fresh. For an extra kick, add a pinch of fresh ginger or turmeric during the simmering process for additional anti-inflammatory benefits. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently.
