Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Step 8: Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
Step 9: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the dough. For extra flavor, sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top of the cookies before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze dough balls for up to 3 months.
