Ingredients
1 (12 oz) can chilled Diet Coke (or Coke Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero)
1/2 – 1 tablespoon coconut cream or sweetened coconut syrup (such as Coco Lopez)
1/2 – 1 fresh lime, juiced
Ice
Lime wedge or wheel for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Fill a tall glass generously with ice. Ensure your Diet Coke is well chilled for the best result.
Step 2: Add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of coconut cream or sweetened coconut syrup to the glass. Adjust this amount based on your preference for sweetness and coconut flavor. For a richer taste, use coconut cream; for a lighter drink, opt for syrup.
Step 3: Squeeze the fresh lime juice into the glass. Typically, the juice of 1/2 to 1 whole lime is perfect for a 12-ounce drink, providing a refreshing tartness that balances the sweetness.
Step 4: Slowly pour the chilled Diet Coke over the ice and other ingredients, leaving a small space at the top of the glass. Pouring slowly helps to minimize fizz loss.
Step 5: Gently stir the mixture with a spoon or straw until the coconut cream or syrup is well combined and you see the “dirty” cloudiness. Be careful not to over-stir to retain maximum carbonation.
Step 6: Garnish your Diet Coke Coconut Lime Dirty Soda with a fresh lime wedge or wheel. Serve immediately and enjoy this delightful, refreshing beverage!
Notes
For the best flavor, always use fresh lime juice. The type of coconut cream/syrup greatly impacts the final taste; use a sweetened variety. Adjust sweetness and lime tartness to your preference. This recipe is easily scalable for larger batches.
