Luxurious Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup with edible gold dust and fresh strawberries

Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup

A truly decadent and visually stunning dessert featuring fresh strawberries coated in rich, high-quality chocolate, often layered with ganache and adorned with edible gold or intricate designs, presented in an individual cup for a luxurious treat.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

24 fresh, firm strawberries
8 oz high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cacao), finely chopped
6 oz good quality milk chocolate, finely chopped
2 tbsp heavy cream (optional, for ganache-like texture)
2 oz white chocolate, finely chopped (for drizzle)
Edible gold dust or spray (optional, for decoration)
Decorative sprinkles (optional)
6 small clear dessert cups or glasses

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Strawberries. Gently wash your fresh strawberries under cool water. Lay them out on paper towels or a clean kitchen towel and allow them to air dry completely. This is a crucial step! Any moisture will cause your chocolate to seize. You can also gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Once dry, set them aside.
Step 2: Melt the Dark Chocolate. Break your high-quality dark chocolate into small, even pieces. You can use a double boiler method for gentle melting: place a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Stir frequently until the chocolate is smooth and glossy. Alternatively, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
Step 3: Dip the Strawberries. Hold each dry strawberry by its green cap and dip it into the melted dark chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the berry. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off. Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with all strawberries.
Step 4: Chill the Dipped Strawberries. Transfer the baking sheet with the chocolate-dipped strawberries to the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is set. This firm chocolate shell is essential for the next layering step.
Step 5: Prepare Your Dessert Cups. While the strawberries are chilling, you can prepare your individual dessert cups. These can be small glass tumblers, mini trifle dishes, or clear plastic dessert cups. The transparency allows the beautiful layers to shine through.
Step 6: Melt the Milk Chocolate (and cream, if using). If you’re adding a creamy milk chocolate layer, melt your milk chocolate using the same double boiler or microwave method as the dark chocolate. If desired, gently warm a couple of tablespoons of heavy cream and stir it into the melted milk chocolate for a smoother, ganache-like consistency.
Step 7: Assemble the First Layer. Take your chilled, chocolate-dipped strawberries. You can either slice them in half or leave them whole, depending on the size of your cups and your preferred presentation. Arrange a layer of these strawberries at the bottom of each dessert cup.
Step 8: Add the Milk Chocolate Layer. Carefully spoon or pipe a layer of the melted milk chocolate (or ganache) over the strawberries in each cup. Ensure it covers the berries evenly.
Step 9: Repeat Layers (Optional). If you have enough ingredients and depth in your cups, you can add another layer of fresh (or chocolate-dipped) strawberries, followed by another layer of milk chocolate.
Step 10: Chill Again. Return the assembled cups to the refrigerator for another 15-20 minutes to allow the milk chocolate layer to set. This prevents the decorative top layers from sinking.
Step 11: Prepare White Chocolate Drizzle & Decorations. While the cups are chilling, melt white chocolate using the same gentle method. Transfer it to a piping bag with a very small snip at the end or a Ziploc bag with a corner snipped off. Gather any edible gold dust, sprinkles, or other decorations you plan to use.
Step 12: Decorate and Finish. Once the milk chocolate layer is firm, remove the cups from the fridge. Drizzle with white chocolate in an intricate pattern. Immediately, while the white chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with edible gold dust or other decorations. You can even use a small, clean paintbrush to gently dust the gold onto specific areas.
Step 13: Final Chill and Serve. Return the finished Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cups to the refrigerator for a final chill until completely set, typically another 15-30 minutes. Serve cold and enjoy the luxurious indulgence!

Notes

For the best results, always use high-quality chocolate and ensure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping. If you don’t have edible gold dust, a light sprinkle of finely chopped pistachios or cocoa powder can also add an elegant touch. Store any leftover cups in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
