Ingredients
16 oz dry rotini or penne pasta
24 oz jar marinara sauce
3 cups water
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
Step 2: Add the dry pasta, marinara sauce, water, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder directly into the baking dish.
Step 3: Stir the ingredients well until the pasta is evenly coated and mostly submerged in the liquid.
Step 4: Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil to ensure no steam escapes during the cooking process.
Step 5: Bake for 35-40 minutes. Carefully remove the foil and stir the pasta to ensure it is tender.
Step 6: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices evenly over the top.
Step 7: Return to the oven uncovered for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Step 8: Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
Notes
Ensure the foil is sealed very tightly to prevent the pasta from staying hard. You can add cooked ground beef or sausage for extra protein.
