Ingredients
2 tablespoons loose-leaf Earl Grey tea (or 4 tea bags)
2 cups filtered water
1/2 cup quick-cooking black tapioca pearls (boba)
2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup
1 cup whole milk or oat milk
2 cups ice cubes
Instructions
Step 1: Boil the water and steep the Earl Grey tea for 5 minutes. Remove the leaves or tea bags and stir in the sweetener while the tea is still hot. Let it cool completely.
Step 2: Bring a small pot of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls and cook according to the package instructions (usually 5-10 minutes).
Step 3: Drain the pearls and rinse them briefly under cold water. Place them in a small bowl and toss with a teaspoon of syrup to prevent sticking.
Step 4: Divide the cooked pearls into two tall glasses.
Step 5: Fill the glasses with ice, then pour the cooled Earl Grey tea over the ice until the glass is about three-quarters full.
Step 6: Top with milk and stir well with a wide boba straw before serving.
Notes
Always use a wide straw to ensure you can enjoy the boba pearls. For a stronger tea flavor, freeze some Earl Grey tea into ice cubes instead of using regular water ice.
