Ingredients
1 package (17.3 ounces frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed)
1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (dark, milk, or semi-sweet)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon water
Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.
Step 3: Cut each rectangle into 4 triangles.
Step 4: Place a tablespoon of chocolate chips or chopped chocolate near the wide end of each triangle.
Step 5: Starting from the wide end, roll the triangle tightly toward the point to form a croissant shape. Pinch the ends to seal.
Step 6: Place the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 7: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make the egg wash. Brush the tops of the croissants with the egg wash.
Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
Step 9: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality chocolate. You can also experiment with fillings like Nutella or add a sprinkle of nuts for extra crunch. Serve warm with coffee or tea.
