Ingredients
1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds (about 12–15 slices)
2 tablespoons olive oil
8 ounces fresh goat cheese (chevre), softened
6–8 ripe fresh figs, washed and quartered
3 tablespoons honey, plus more for drizzling
1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
Optional: Fresh basil or mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
Step 3: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden and crispy. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning. Set aside to cool slightly. (This is a crucial step for perfect fig recipes!)
Step 4: Once the crostini are cool enough to handle, spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese evenly over each slice.
Step 5: Arrange 2-3 fig quarters on top of the goat cheese on each crostini.
Step 6: Drizzle generously with honey and then lightly with balsamic glaze.
Step 7: Garnish with fresh basil or mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy these delightful fig recipes!
Notes
For the best results, use fresh, ripe figs. If fresh figs are not available, you can rehydrate dried figs in warm water or wine, though the texture will be different. You can prepare the toasted baguette slices ahead of time and store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Assemble just before serving to prevent the crostini from becoming soggy.
