Ingredients
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
Assorted fresh fruit for serving (strawberries, grapes, apple slices, pineapple)
Instructions
Step 1: Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature. This is key for a smooth, lump-free dip.
Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
Step 3: If using, add the sour cream and lemon juice to the bowl.
Step 4: Using an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer) or a sturdy whisk, beat the mixture on medium speed until it is completely smooth, light, and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Step 5: Transfer the fluffy cream cheese fruit dip to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving, allowing the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up slightly.
Step 6: Serve chilled with your favorite fresh fruits, graham crackers, or pretzels.
Notes
For best results, make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature before mixing. For a slightly tarter dip, increase the amount of lemon juice to taste. This dip is also delicious with a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg added to the mixture.
