Ingredients
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Step 1: In a small saucepan, combine the dark brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar over medium-low heat.
Step 2: Whisk the mixture constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved and the liquid is smooth.
Step 3: Add the ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and garlic powder, whisking to incorporate.
Step 4: Increase the heat slightly to bring the glaze to a very gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until it has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Step 5: Remove from heat and allow the ham glaze recipe to cool slightly before brushing onto your ham during the final 30 minutes of baking.
Step 6: Apply multiple layers every 10-15 minutes for a thicker, more flavorful crust.
Notes
For a thicker glaze, simmer for an additional 2 minutes. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
