Ingredients
4 cups (1 liter) cranberry juice cocktail, chilled
2 cups (500ml) orange juice, chilled
2 cups (500ml) apple juice, chilled
1/2 cup (120ml) maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
3–4 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon whole cloves
2 star anise pods
4 cups (1 liter) ginger ale or sparkling cider, chilled
1 orange, thinly sliced, for garnish
1 lemon, thinly sliced, for garnish
1/2 cup fresh cranberries, for garnish
Fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: In a large punch bowl or pitcher, combine the chilled cranberry juice cocktail, orange juice, and apple juice. Stir gently to mix these fruit bases thoroughly.
Step 2: Add the whole cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise directly into the juice mixture. For easier removal, you can place them in a muslin bag.
Step 3: Pour in the maple syrup or honey. Start with 1/2 cup, stir well, and taste. Adjust to your desired sweetness.
Step 4: Cover the pitcher or punch bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. This chilling period allows the spices to fully infuse their flavors.
Step 5: Just before serving, remove the whole spices (if desired). Gently pour in the chilled ginger ale or sparkling cider. Stir once or twice to combine, being careful not to lose the fizz.
Step 6: Ladle into individual glasses. Garnish each serving or the entire bowl with fresh orange slices, lemon slices, a handful of fresh cranberries, and a sprig of fresh rosemary or an extra cinnamon stick.
Notes
For best flavor, ensure the punch base infuses with spices overnight. Adjust sweetness to your liking. Using an ice ring or frozen fruit prevents dilution, keeping the punch cold and flavorful.
