Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
4 medium flour tortillas or large lettuce leaves (iceberg or butter lettuce)
1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 cup finely diced white onion
1/2 cup dill pickle slices (chopped or whole)
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
For the Special Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Step 1: Begin by preparing the special sauce. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 2: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spoon. Cook until the beef is fully browned and no pink remains, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Season the cooked beef with salt and black pepper to taste.
Step 3: While the beef is cooking, prepare your wrappers and toppings. If using flour tortillas, you can warm them briefly in a dry skillet or microwave for 10-15 seconds to make them more pliable. Shred the iceberg lettuce, slice the dill pickles, and finely dice the white onion.
Step 4: Lay out a tortilla or a large lettuce leaf (for a low-carb option) on a clean surface. Spread a generous tablespoon or two of the prepared special sauce evenly over the wrapper.
Step 5: Spoon a portion of the seasoned ground beef onto the center of the wrapper, over the sauce. Don’t overfill, as you’ll need room to fold.
Step 6: Top the beef with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, a handful of shredded iceberg lettuce, a few slices of dill pickle, and a scattering of finely diced white onion.
Step 7: Carefully fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom. If using a lettuce leaf, you might need to overlap two leaves for a sturdier wrap. Repeat with the remaining ingredients until all your delicious wraps are complete.
Step 8: Serve immediately and enjoy your deconstructed Big Mac experience! You can serve extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
For best results, prepare the special sauce at least 30 minutes ahead of time to allow flavors to fully develop. You can also meal prep the cooked ground beef and chopped vegetables, storing them in airtight containers for quick assembly throughout the week.
