Ingredients
1 (7-8 lb) spiral-cut bone-in ham
1 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup apple juice (for the pan)
Instructions
Step 1: Remove the ham from the refrigerator at least 1 hour before cooking to allow it to reach room temperature for even heating.
Step 2: Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C) and place the ham cut-side down in a large roasting pan.
Step 3: Pour the apple juice into the bottom of the pan and wrap the ham tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
Step 4: Bake the ham for approximately 12-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 110°F.
Step 5: While the ham is baking, combine honey, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a saucepan over medium-low heat until melted and smooth.
Step 6: Remove the ham from the oven, increase the heat to 425°F, and brush half of the honey glaze over the ham.
Step 7: Bake uncovered for 10 minutes, apply the remaining glaze, and bake for another 5-10 minutes until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the ham stays juicy. Do not overcook past 140°F internal temperature.
