iced coffee recipes - A refreshing glass of iced coffee with swirling milk and ice cubes.

Classic Homemade Iced Coffee

A foolproof method for creating smooth, bold, and refreshing iced coffee at home using the cold brew concentrate method.

  • Total Time: 12 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
4 cups filtered water
Ice cubes (preferably made from coffee)
Optional: Milk or cream of choice
Optional: Simple syrup or liquid sweetener

Instructions

Step 1: Combine the coarsely ground coffee beans and filtered water in a large jar or pitcher.
Step 2: Stir gently to ensure all grounds are saturated, then cover and let steep at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
Step 3: Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth into a clean container.
Step 4: Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the coffee concentrate over the ice, filling it about halfway.
Step 5: Top with water or milk and stir in your preferred sweetener to taste.

Notes

The concentrate can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Always use a coarse grind to prevent the coffee from becoming too bitter or muddy.
