Ingredients
1.5 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
2 tablespoons hot water (175°F)
1 cup milk of choice (oat, almond, or dairy)
1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey (optional)
1 cup ice cubes
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or wide-mouth mug to remove any clumps.
Step 2: Add the hot water (not boiling) to the matcha powder.
Step 3: Use a bamboo whisk or electric frother to whisk the matcha and water until a thick, frothy paste forms with no visible lumps.
Step 4: Stir in your sweetener (maple syrup or honey) and vanilla extract if using.
Step 5: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
Step 6: Pour your choice of milk into the glass, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
Step 7: Slowly pour the concentrated matcha mixture over the milk to create a beautiful layered effect.
Step 8: Stir gently before drinking to combine the layers.
Notes
Always use ceremonial grade matcha for the best color and flavor. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness.
