Ingredients
2 oz Jamaican White Rum
1 oz Blue Curacao
1/2 oz Grenadine
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
2 oz Pineapple Juice
Ice cubes
Lime wheel and maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Fill a tall highball glass to the brim with fresh ice cubes to ensure the jamaican purple rain stays chilled.
Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine the Jamaican white rum, fresh lime juice, and pineapple juice.
Step 3: Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the exterior is frosted.
Step 4: Strain the mixture into the prepared highball glass, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
Step 5: Slowly pour the grenadine down the inside edge of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a red base for your jamaican purple rain.
Step 6: Using the back of a bar spoon, gently pour the Blue Curacao over the top of the drink. Watch as the colors bleed together to create the purple middle layer.
Step 7: Garnish with a lime wheel and a cherry, and serve your jamaican purple rain immediately without stirring.
Notes
For a more dramatic purple color, ensure you use a dark red grenadine and a bright Blue Curacao. Do not stir before serving to preserve the visual effect.
