Ingredients
4 cups water
4 green tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf green tea)
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
1/4 cup honey (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2–3 lemons)
Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Step 1: Heat water. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Steep the tea and ginger. Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add the green tea bags and sliced ginger. Allow to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your preferred strength.
Step 3: Sweeten the tea. After steeping, remove the tea bags and ginger slices from the pot. While the tea is still warm, stir in the honey until it is fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to your liking.
Step 4: Add lemon juice. Stir in the fresh lemon juice, mixing well to combine all the flavors.
Step 5: Chill the tea. Allow the tea to cool completely to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
Step 6: Serve. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled lemon ginger iced green tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, you can muddle a few extra mint leaves at the bottom of your glass before pouring in the tea. If the tea becomes too strong after chilling, dilute with a splash of cold water or extra ice.
