Ingredients
4 cups water
4 green tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf green tea)
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
1 lemon, juiced (plus extra slices for garnish)
1/4 cup honey (or to taste)
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat. Add the green tea bags and sliced ginger. Allow it to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Remove tea bags and ginger.
Step 3: While the tea is still warm, stir in the honey until fully dissolved. Adjust the sweetness to your liking.
Step 4: Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
Step 5: Once cooled, transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours until thoroughly chilled.
Step 6: To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled lemon ginger tea over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves if desired.
Notes
For an extra zing, muddle a few extra ginger slices or mint leaves at the bottom of your serving glass before adding ice and tea. You can also freeze leftover tea into ice cubes for future drinks!
