Ingredients
1 cup fresh lime juice (about 8–10 limes)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water (for simple syrup)
4–5 cups cold filtered water
Fresh lime slices for garnish
Ice cubes
Instructions
Step 1: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool to room temperature.
Step 2: Juice your limes until you have exactly 1 cup of fresh juice. Strain out any seeds or excessive pulp if desired.
Step 3: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and the fresh lime juice. Stir well to integrate.
Step 4: Add 4 to 5 cups of cold filtered water to the pitcher, depending on how strong you prefer your limeade recipe. Stir thoroughly.
Step 5: Refrigerate the limeade for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve in tall glasses filled with ice and garnish with fresh lime wheels.
Notes
For a lower-calorie version, you can substitute the sugar with a stevia-based sweetener, though the texture of the simple syrup may vary slightly.
