Ingredients
6 large Bosc pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for the fruit)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour (for the topping)
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1 tablespoon molasses
1.5 teaspoons ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of flour, and cinnamon until evenly coated.
Step 3: Transfer the pear mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Step 4: In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, oats, brown sugar, ground ginger, cloves, and salt.
Step 5: Add the cold cubed butter and molasses to the dry mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 6: Sprinkle the gingerbread crumble mixture evenly over the pears.
Step 7: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
Step 8: Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For an extra ginger kick, add 2 tablespoons of chopped crystallized ginger to the topping mixture.
