Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon espresso powder
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, whisking vigorously until well combined.
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition until the mixture is light and slightly fluffy, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: Sift the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and espresso powder into the wet ingredients to ensure there are no lumps in the batter.
Step 5: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with your spatula.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs; do not overbake.
Step 8: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 16 squares to ensure the fudgy texture sets perfectly.
Notes
For an extra rich flavor, chill the brownies in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.
