Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet with butter or non-stick spray.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips manually.
Step 6: Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Step 7: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is still slightly soft. Let cool for 5 minutes before topping with ice cream and serving.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, try browning the butter before mixing, but let it cool to a soft solid state first.
