Pumpkin Toffee Crunch Trifle

A show-stopping layered dessert featuring spiced pumpkin cream cheese, fluffy whipped cream, soft pound cake, and crunchy toffee bits. This pumpkin toffee crunch trifle recipe is the ultimate make-ahead treat for fall gatherings and holidays.

  • Total Time: 3 hours (includes chilling)
  • Yield: 12-16 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream, chilled
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
1 (16 ounce) store-bought pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 1/2 cups Heath Bar or plain toffee bits, divided

Instructions

Step 1: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the canned pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until well combined and smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Step 2: In a separate large, chilled bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
Step 3: Place about half of the cubed pound cake at the bottom of a 3-quart trifle dish, forming an even layer.
Step 4: Evenly spread half of the pumpkin cream cheese mixture over the pound cake layer.
Step 5: Sprinkle about one-third (1/2 cup) of the toffee bits over the pumpkin layer.
Step 6: Carefully spread half of the whipped cream over the toffee bits.
Step 7: Repeat the layers: remaining pound cake, remaining pumpkin cream cheese mixture, and another one-third (1/2 cup) of the toffee bits.
Step 8: Top the second pumpkin layer with the remaining whipped cream. You can create decorative swirls using a spatula or pipe it with a star tip.
Step 9: Finish by generously sprinkling the remaining toffee bits (1/2 cup) over the top of the trifle.
Step 10: Chill the trifle for at least 2-3 hours in the refrigerator before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set. For best results, chill overnight.

Notes

For best results, make this trifle the day before you plan to serve it to allow all the flavors to fully meld. Ensure your cream cheese is well softened for a smooth pumpkin layer, and chill your mixing bowl and whisk for the whipped cream to achieve stiff peaks faster. You can customize the spices in the pumpkin layer to your preference.
