Ingredients
1 lb (450g) lean ground beef (80/20 recommended)
2–3 tablespoons harissa paste (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped, plus more for garnish
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 pieces naan bread
1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat recommended)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped (optional, for yogurt sauce)
Pinch of salt for yogurt sauce
Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, harissa paste, red onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 2: Form the mixture into approximately 18-20 small meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter.
Step 3: Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 4: Add meatballs to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Step 5: While meatballs cook, warm the naan bread according to package instructions.
Step 6: In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lemon juice, chopped mint (if using), and a pinch of salt.
Step 7: Arrange warm naan on plates. Top with the cooked harissa beef meatballs.
Step 8: Drizzle generously with the prepared Greek yogurt sauce. Garnish with extra fresh parsley or mint, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can let the meatball mixture marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes before forming. If you don’t have fresh mint, a sprinkle of dried mint or sumac on the yogurt can also be delicious.
