Ingredients
1 ripe banana, sliced (preferably frozen)
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond or oat milk)
1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for extra creaminess and protein)
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker texture)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients. If not already, slice the ripe banana into smaller pieces. If using fresh blueberries, rinse them under cold water. If using frozen fruit, they can be added directly to the blender.
Step 2: Combine in Blender. In a high-speed blender, add the sliced banana, blueberries, milk, Greek yogurt (if using), honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
Step 3: Blend Until Smooth. Blend on high speed until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you prefer a thicker consistency, add a few ice cubes and blend again until desired texture is reached.
Step 4: Taste and Adjust. Taste the smoothie and, if needed, add more honey or maple syrup to reach your preferred level of sweetness. Blend briefly to incorporate any additions.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy. Pour the refreshing banana-blueberry smoothie into a glass and serve immediately. Garnish with a few extra blueberries or a banana slice if desired.
Notes
For a plant-based option, ensure you use non-dairy milk and yogurt. Add a handful of spinach for hidden greens without affecting the taste! For best results, use at least one type of frozen fruit.
