Ingredients
1 lb ground breakfast sausage (mild or hot)
16 oz processed cheese block (e.g., Velveeta), cubed
1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes and green chilies (undrained)
1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
2 tbsp milk (optional, for consistency)
Instructions
Step 1: Brown the ground sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until fully cooked and no pink remains.
Step 2: Drain the excess grease from the skillet thoroughly to ensure the dip isn’t oily.
Step 3: Reduce the heat to low and add the cubed processed cheese and the undrained can of diced tomatoes and green chilies.
Step 4: Stir continuously until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Step 5: If the dip is too thick, stir in a splash of milk until the desired consistency is reached. Serve warm with chips.
Notes
For a spicier dip, use ‘Hot’ breakfast sausage and add a chopped jalapeño. To keep the dip warm during a party, transfer it to a small slow cooker on the ‘Warm’ setting.
