Ingredients
1.5 lbs large or jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined (fresh or thawed frozen)
2 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp unsalted butter
4–6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
Juice of 1 large lemon
Zest of 1 large lemon
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Pat the thawed, peeled, and deveined shrimp thoroughly dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
Step 2: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add half of the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a clean plate and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
Step 3: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the unsalted butter to the same skillet, letting it melt. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for about 30-60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 4: Pour in the dry white wine or chicken broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly reduced.
Step 5: Return all the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Add the fresh lemon juice and lemon zest. Toss everything gently to coat the shrimp in the delicious sauce.
Step 6: Stir in the fresh chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately and enjoy these fantastic shrimp recipes!
Notes
Ensure shrimp are thoroughly dry before cooking for the best sear. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level. Serve immediately for optimal taste and texture.
