Ingredients
2 oz (60ml) 100% Agave Tequila (Blanco recommended)
1 oz (30ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
1 oz (30ml) Orange Liqueur (Cointreau or good Triple Sec)
0.5 oz (15ml) Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup (adjust to taste)
Lime wedge for garnish
Coarse salt for the rim (optional)
Plenty of ice
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your glass. If you desire a salted rim, take a lime wedge and rub it around the rim of your chosen glass. Pour some coarse salt onto a shallow plate. Dip the wet rim of the glass into the salt, rotating gently to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.
Step 2: Combine ingredients in a shaker. In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave nectar (or simple syrup).
Step 3: Add ice to the shaker. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with fresh ice.
Step 4: Shake vigorously. Secure the lid on your shaker and shake hard for about 15-20 seconds, until the shaker is very cold to the touch.
Step 5: Strain and serve. Fill your prepared, salted glass with fresh ice. Strain the contents of the shaker into your glass.
Step 6: Garnish and enjoy! Garnish your simple margarita recipe with a fresh lime wedge or wheel. Serve immediately.
Notes
Always use fresh lime juice for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness to your personal preference. For a crowd, pre-mix the liquids and shake individual servings.
