Ingredients
1 cup mixed frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
1 ripe banana, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup baby spinach (optional, but highly recommended)
1/2 cup Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)
1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, e.g., almond, soy)
1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds
1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
1/4 cup water or extra milk (adjust for desired consistency)
Instructions
Step 1: Gather all your ingredients. For best results, ensure your berries are frozen. If using a fresh banana, you might want to add a few ice cubes for extra chill.
Step 2: Add the liquid ingredients to your blender first: milk and Greek yogurt. This helps the blades move freely.
Step 3: Next, add the soft ingredients: banana, baby spinach, chia/flax seeds, and optional sweetener.
Step 4: Finally, add the frozen berries. Layering in this order (liquid, soft, frozen) helps prevent air pockets and ensures a smoother blend.
Step 5: Secure the blender lid and blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add water or extra milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Step 6: Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. Enjoy your revitalizing smoothie!
Notes
For a vegan version, use plant-based yogurt and milk. Add a scoop of protein powder for an extra boost. This is one of the most versatile smoothie recipes!
