Ingredients
6 large Bosc pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced pears with the granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cornstarch until the fruit is evenly coated.
Step 3: Transfer the pear mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out into an even layer.
Step 4: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 5: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the pears in the dish.
Step 6: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pear juices are bubbling around the edges.
Step 7: Remove from the oven and let the spiced pear crumble cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Use firm pears like Bosc to ensure they don’t turn into mush during the baking process.
