spritz recipe - A bright orange spritz cocktail in a wine glass garnished with an orange slice and olive.

Classic Venetian Spritz

The quintessential Italian aperitivo: a refreshing, bubbly, and perfectly bitter-sweet cocktail using the 3-2-1 method.

  • Total Time: 3 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cocktail 1x

Ingredients

Scale

3 oz Chilled Prosecco (Brut or Extra Dry)
2 oz Aperol or Campari
1 oz Chilled Soda Water or Club Soda
Large ice cubes
1 Fresh orange slice
1 Green olive (optional, for authentic Venetian style)

Instructions

Step 1: Fill a large wine glass or rocks glass to the top with fresh, large ice cubes.
Step 2: Pour 3 ounces of chilled Prosecco over the ice.
Step 3: Add 2 ounces of Aperol (for sweet) or Campari (for bitter) in a circular motion.
Step 4: Top with a splash (about 1 ounce) of cold soda water.
Step 5: Stir very gently once with a long bar spoon to combine without losing bubbles.
Step 6: Garnish with an orange slice and an olive, then serve immediately.

Notes

Always chill your Prosecco and soda water thoroughly before mixing to ensure the ice doesn’t melt instantly.
