Ingredients
2 cans (21 ounces each) strawberry pie filling
2 blocks (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, very cold
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: Pour both cans of strawberry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly across the bottom.
Step 3: Take your softened cream cheese and drop spoonfuls or dollops evenly over the strawberry pie filling. Thereβs no need to spread it perfectly.
Step 4: Evenly sprinkle the entire box of dry yellow cake mix over the cream cheese and strawberry layers, trying to cover as much of the wet ingredients as possible.
Step 5: Slice your very cold butter into thin pats or cubes. Arrange these butter pieces evenly over the top of the dry cake mix, covering as much surface as possible.
Step 6: Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Step 7: Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to set slightly. Serve warm, perhaps with your favorite toppings!
Notes
For an extra treat, garnish with fresh strawberries or a dusting of powdered sugar. This cake tastes great warm or chilled. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
