Ingredients
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
6 oz (180ml) Tequila Blanco
3 oz (90ml) Cointreau or Triple Sec
3 oz (90ml) fresh lime juice
1–2 oz (30-60ml) agave nectar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
Ice, for shaking and serving
Lime wedges and extra strawberries for garnish
Coarse salt or sugar for rim (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your glasses. If desired, moisten the rim of your margarita glasses with a lime wedge, then dip into coarse salt or sugar. Set aside.
Step 2: Muddle the strawberries. In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the quartered fresh strawberries. You want to break them down and release their juices and flavor, but not completely pulverize them into a pulp.
Step 3: Combine ingredients. Add the Tequila Blanco, Cointreau or Triple Sec, fresh lime juice, and 1 ounce of agave nectar (or simple syrup) to the shaker with the muddled strawberries.
Step 4: Add ice and shake. Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds, until the shaker is thoroughly chilled and frosty on the outside. This ensures your strawberry margarita recipe is perfectly cold.
Step 5: Taste and adjust. Remove the lid and taste a small amount of the mixture. If it’s too tart, add the remaining 1 ounce of agave nectar or simple syrup, shake again briefly, and re-taste until it reaches your preferred sweetness level. This personalization makes it your ideal strawberry margarita recipe.
Step 6: Strain and serve. Fill your prepared glasses with fresh ice. Strain the strawberry margarita mixture from the shaker into the glasses.
Step 7: Garnish and enjoy. Garnish each glass with a fresh lime wedge and an extra strawberry or two. Serve immediately and savor your homemade strawberry margarita recipe!
Notes
For a frozen strawberry margarita, combine all ingredients (using frozen strawberries, or adding more ice) in a blender and blend until smooth. Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of your strawberries. Always use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
