Ingredients
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
1 cup fresh pineapple, diced
1/4 cup red onion, finely minced
1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar (optional)
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the fruit by hulling and dicing the strawberries and pineapple into small, uniform pieces and place them in a medium mixing bowl.
Step 2: Finely mince the red onion and jalapeño pepper, ensuring all seeds are removed for a milder strawberry pineapple salsa, and add them to the bowl.
Step 3: Add the freshly chopped cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt to the fruit mixture.
Step 4: If the fruit is tart, drizzle the honey or agave over the strawberry pineapple salsa and toss gently to combine.
Step 5: Cover and refrigerate the strawberry pineapple salsa for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving with chips or over grilled protein.
Notes
For the best results, use fresh rather than canned fruit. Serve immediately or within 2 hours for peak freshness.
